You can customise your degree by choosing an area of business to specialise in from the range of majors offered in the Bachelor of Business. For the Master of Data Science component, the available majors are: computational data science, statistical data science, biomedical data science, and information systems analytics.

Yes, as part of QUT's Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program, you'll have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, engage with industry professionals, and complete professional work placements. QUT Business School currently has more than 1,200 active partners across all sectors, providing strong industry connections to local, national, and international business communities.

If you don't have an ATAR or selection rank, there are other ways you can apply. Additionally, if you have completed an AQF diploma or higher and satisfy all other admission requirements, you are guaranteed an offer for this course in the Semester 1 offer rounds under the VET guarantee. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants may also be eligible for admission through the Centralised Assessment Selection Process (CASP).

During your degree, you can try your hand at research by undertaking a paid project for approximately 6–10 weeks under the Vacation Research Experience Scheme (VRES), provided you meet the eligibility requirements. This allows you to contribute to a real research project, collaborate with active researchers, gain first-hand experience, and decide if a research career is for you. Academics teaching in this course also work on ground-breaking research in the QUT Centre for Data Science.

If you achieve an ATAR or selection rank of 80.00 or higher (including any adjustments) and satisfy all other admission requirements, you are guaranteed an offer for this course in the Semester 1 offer rounds, up to the main offer round in mid-January. The course is available to start in February and July each year, and you can defer your offer to postpone the start of your course for one year.
