Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree, graduate certificate, graduate diploma or master's degree or equivalent international qualification in any field.
Credit Pathway for Experienced Professionals (Advanced Standing): Applicants with a qualification in a business-related field and at least four years of full-time experience in managerial or leadership roles may be eligible for up to 40 credit points of unspecified or specified credit.
International entry pathway: Applicants who have completed the CDU English for Academic Purposes 4 or the Accelerated International Masters Qualifying Program are eligible for entry.
English language requirements (Domestic): Must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements, evidenced by one of the following:
- Successful completion of Year 12 within Australia or an approved English-speaking country
- Successful completion of at least 0.5FTE of higher education study from Australia or an approved country
- Successful completion of a Charles Darwin University enabling program of at least 0.5FTE (40 credit points)
- Successful completion of a recognised TAFE qualification at Certificate III level or higher from Australia
- Current AHPRA registration as a Division 1 or Division 2 nurse
- English test results: IELTS Academic overall minimum 6.5, no band below 6.0; Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) overall minimum 176, no skill below 169; PTE Academic overall minimum 58, no score below 50; TOEFL overall minimum 79, minimum writing score 21

What specialist elective streams are available in the MBA at CDU?

Students can choose specialist electives from the following streams: Business, Accounting and Law, Indigenous Engagement and Policy Development, Emergency and Disaster Management, Public Health and Health Research, Information Technology, and Educational Leadership (new for 2026). Students may focus on one discipline or choose a combination of units from any discipline.

Is there a work placement opportunity as part of the MBA?

Yes, the course offers students the opportunity to complete a professional placement as part of the following units, subject to meeting minimum academic performance requirements: WIB602 Professional Practice 1 (100 hours) and WIB603 Professional Practice 2 (200 hours, 20 credit points). Both units must be taken concurrently and have a prerequisite of WIB601 Business Skills and Professional Communication.

Can I receive advanced standing or credit transfer for previous experience or qualifications?

Yes. Applicants with a qualification in a business-related field and at least four years of full-time experience in managerial or leadership roles may be eligible for up to 40 credit points of unspecified or specified credit via the Credit Pathway for Experienced Professionals. To apply, you must complete the CDU eForm via the CDU Portal and submit a current CV and a statement of service issued by your employer on company letterhead.

What are the annual international tuition fees for the MBA?

The annual tuition fee for full-time study in 2026 is AUD $38,192.00, which equates to $4,774.00 per 10 credit point unit (0.125 EFTSL). These fees are subject to increases annually, effective at the start of each calendar year. CDU also offers a number of scholarships to international students to assist with the cost of study.

What are the English language requirements for domestic students applying to the MBA?
