Common Questions
Applicants need a Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline, or equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience. From 01-JUL-2026, all applicants must have a four-year Bachelor of Education degree and at least five years relevant professional experience, three of which must include education leadership and/or management functions such as year or program coordinator, head of learning area, deputy principal, principal, education consultant, or curriculum coordinator.
The course takes 1 year full-time or part-time equivalent for domestic students, and 1 year full-time for international students. It is available in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 at ECU's City Campus.
The estimated 1st year indicative fee is AUD $31,100 for domestic fee-paying students and AUD $40,050 for international students. These are indicative figures only; at ECU you pay for the individual units you enrol in, not an overall course fee, so the total cost may vary.
Students are required to complete 6 core units: Managing People and Organisations (FBL5010), Marketing Leadership (FBL5020), Fundamentals of Value Creation in Business (FBL5030), Metrics, Analytics and Performance in Public Administration and Education (MAN6210), Educational Leadership Inquiry (EDU6620), and Leading Educational Change: Policy, Practice and Impact (EDU6610). Each unit is worth 20 credit points.
Graduates can pursue a wide range of roles in the education sector, including School Principal, Deputy Principal, Director of Education, Assistant Principal, Curriculum Coordinator, Education Administrator, Early Childhood Director, Education Policy Advisor, School Improvement Specialist, Education Project Manager, Leadership Coach (Education), Education Program Director, Regional Education Officer, and Education Consultant, among others.
