About This Course

The Master of Business Analytics is a postgraduate degree from Torrens University Australia that develops the ability to convert data into insights and business solutions. The multi-disciplinary course builds fundamental knowledge across artificial intelligence, data, optimisation, and visualisation and storytelling, alongside the contemporary technologies and communication skills needed to elicit business requirements and recommend analytical solutions that embed seamlessly within business operations. It also provides a pathway into further study, including the Master of Business Administration. Learning outcomes include implementing optimised solutions to contemporary business challenges, recommending analytics-driven strategic solutions for global best practice, applying data concepts across multiple information sources to transform business processes and decisions, harnessing digital technologies including AI, and communicating relevant insights to both expert and non-expert stakeholders.

The Foundations in Business Analysis subject is endorsed by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), prequalifying graduates for its ECBA, CCBA and CBAP certifications, and the course prepares students to sit the IIBA's Entry Certificate in Business Analysis exam. The Applied Optimisation in Business subject aligns with the SAS Certified Specialist: Machine Learning credential, while the Artificial Intelligence subject meets the requirements of the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals certification. Torrens is a member of the EFMD and PRME, and students receive complimentary ACS student membership. The course is delivered online, on campus and in blended mode over 1.7 years full time (part-time options available), across the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide campuses and online, with intakes in September and November 2026.

General Requirements

Domestic students — Admission criteria:

Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) in a related field
Applicants without formal qualifications are eligible to apply if they a period of relevant professional experience in addition to a completed AQF 7 or above qualification in any field

Check the domestic course fee schedule for the cost of your course. Eligible Australian students may choose to defer some, or all, of their tuition fees through FEE-HELP. Business, Alumni and Industry scholarships are available.

International students — Admission criteria:

Australian bachelor's degree or equivalent
Academic IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent
Alternative entry requirements may be available; contact the International Admissions team for more information

Check the international course fee schedule for the cost of your course. Onshore international students requiring a student visa should choose campus-based / blended options. Course fees can be paid across three study periods, with each instalment due before the beginning of the academic stage census date. A range of financial scholarships is available to support international students.

If you have already completed a qualification or gained skills through life or work experience, you may be able to credit this against your degree through Recognition of Prior Learning or Course Credit transfer, with further study pathway options also available.

International students must not enrol in more than one-third (33%) of online subjects over their course, and must study at least one face-to-face subject each study period. Due to COVID-19, authorities provided exceptions to the usual face-to-face learning requirements until 30 June 2023 only (for more information, visit Study in Australia). International students on a student visa are required to study full time (i.e. must complete a minimum of 1.0 EFTSL of study per year).
