For postgraduate coursework entry, you can meet English language requirements through a VCE study score of at least 30 in EAL or at least 25 in English/Literature/English Language, an equivalent interstate or overseas Year 12 qualification, a STAT score of at least 156, post-secondary study (2 undergraduate courses worth at least 24 RMIT credit points or an AQF certificate IV or above), or at least 2 years of professional work experience in an English-language environment with employer documentation. Accepted English proficiency tests include IELTS Academic (minimum 6.5, no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT (minimum 79), PTE Academic (minimum 58), C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency (minimum 176).
Yes. For postgraduate coursework entry at RMIT, you can demonstrate at least 2 years of professional work experience in an occupation requiring English language proficiency. You must provide a supporting statement from your employer on official letterhead or company email confirming that English is the language of business, your duration of employment, roles and responsibilities, nature of work, scale of the organisation, and whether the company deals internationally.
No. RMIT does not accept IELTS General for admission into its university programs. Only IELTS Academic (or IELTS Academic One Skill Retake) is accepted, with a minimum overall band of 6.5 and no individual band below 6.0 for postgraduate coursework degrees.
No. RMIT does not accept scores from 'at-home' or 'online' testing for its English language proficiency requirements. Tests must be taken at an approved testing centre.
English language proficiency test scores are valid for 2 years from the test date. Tests which fall outside of this validity period will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
