The Research specialisation is comprised of two core subjects — Research Methodology (BUS80003) and Business Research Thesis (BUS80021) — that give you the knowledge to develop a research plan and conduct a business research thesis. You'll choose a topic, review existing literature, set research questions, analyse data, and present a final report. Additional elective units include Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, Advanced Microeconometrics, Economics of Innovation, Data Science for Business, and Social Network Analysis.
To qualify for the award of Master of Business Information Systems, students must complete 16 units of study totalling 200 credit points. The course also offers exit awards: completing 2 core units entitles you to the Graduate Certificate, and completing an additional 2 core units and 2 specialisation or elective units entitles you to the Graduate Diploma (exit award only).
The indicative 2026 annual tuition fee for international students is AUD $36,540, with a total course fee of AUD $73,080 based on a standard two-year full-time study load. A Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) of AUD $373 is also applicable. Fees are estimates only and subject to change based on individual circumstances at enrolment.
Yes. A fast-track option is available for those with prior business or industry experience. Applicants who have completed the Graduate Certificate of Business Information Systems or an honours bachelor degree in a related discipline may complete the program in 1 year full-time. Those with a bachelor degree in a related discipline, a graduate certificate in a related discipline, or a bachelor degree in any discipline plus two years relevant work experience may complete it in 1.5 years full-time. Participants in fast-track courses attend workshops with workplace-based assessments.
