Master of Business (Research)

The Master of Philosophy (Business) can be completed in 18 months of full-time study or the equivalent of part-time study. Candidates will usually complete the four coursework subjects within the first full-time semester, after which they proceed to the research component.

Each candidate is assigned two university-based supervisors who will provide support and academic guidance throughout the program's coursework and research components. During the coursework stage, supervisors assist with the early preparation of the research proposal and continue to offer guidance throughout the research phase until the thesis is examined.

Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree from a recognised university completed at a high credit standard that demonstrates potential to undertake research-based study, or an equivalent academic background or extensive professional experience considered by the Dean of the School to be appropriate preparation for independent study and research at Masters level. You may also be required to demonstrate English language proficiency in both written and spoken form.

Most domestic research students are eligible to have all Higher Degree by Research (HDR) course fees paid by the Commonwealth Government through a Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship for the maximum published enrolment duration. Domestic students may also apply for competitive stipend scholarships for students of exceptional research potential. International students may apply for the Commonwealth Government RTP Scholarships (Fees Offset and/or Stipend) or the University International Fee Remission Research Scholarship (IFRRS), which are also very competitive.

An average grade of Credit in the coursework is a prerequisite for proceeding to the research component of the program. Candidates will usually complete the four coursework subjects within the first full-time semester before moving on to their research project.
