The duration depends on your previous qualifications and professional experience. You can complete the course in 1 year full-time (8 credit points) with maximum admission credit, 1.5 years full-time (12 credit points) with partial admission credit, or 2 years full-time (16 credit points) without admission credit. You may also fast-track your degree by studying in the optional third trimester.
Yes, the course is available both on campus at Deakin's Burwood (Melbourne) Campus and fully online, with intakes available in both Trimester 1 (March) and Trimester 2 (July) at both locations. Deakin's blend of online and on-campus learning means you can balance work, study and personal development.
The estimated tuition fee is $34,200 for 1 year full-time for a full-fee paying place. This is a guide only and represents typical first-year tuition fees. The actual cost will vary depending on the units you choose, your study load, the length of your course and any approved Recognition of Prior Learning. You may be eligible for a HELP loan, and Deakin alumni may be eligible for a 10% discount on enrolment fees applied per unit.

Students may also have opportunities to visit, work or volunteer at Melbourne's sports precinct, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne Park, AAMI Park or the National Sports Museum. International consultancy experiences, internships, volunteering placements and study abroad programs are also available.
Students must complete 6 credit points of open elective units. Recommended Sport Management electives include Sport Business Analytics (MMS706), Sport Policy and Development (MMS713), Sport Media and Broadcasting (MMS773), Sport Events and Venue Operations (MMS774), and Sport Industry Experience (MMS776). Open electives can also be chosen from a wide range of level 7 study areas across the University, subject to availability and meeting any pre-requisites. Students can also mix and match Deakin stackable short courses (0.5cp microcredentials) to earn up to 2 credit points towards their degree.
