Yes, this program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as a sixth year of study, leading to registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). With accreditation, when you graduate, you'll be eligible for Associate Membership with the APS College of Clinical Neuropsychologists (CCN). After completing a further 18 months of supervised practice (the Clinical Psychology Registrar Program), you can apply to the PsyBA for full membership and endorsement as a Clinical Neuropsychologist.
To be eligible, applicants must have successfully completed a 6-year APAC accredited sequence of study in psychology, including a major research thesis. All applicants must currently be registered as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia with Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology or equivalent. Applicants must also provide a CV, a completed Supplementary Application Form, a 1-page biopsychosocial case formulation, and have two professional referees submit reports via the Australian Psychology Post-Graduate Program Reference Request System.
The Master of Clinical Neuropsychology consists of two components — coursework and professional practice — totalling 48 units of credit (UOC). There are three academic core courses (Clinical Neuropsychology 1: Disruptions, 2: Lifespan, and 3: Interventions) worth 18 UOC in total, and four professional practice courses worth 30 UOC, plus a 0 UOC Professional Psychological Practice course taken alongside placements. Each term, students take one academic course and one professional practice course.
For domestic students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $42,000 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is also $42,000. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $58,500 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $59,500. Fees are subject to annual review by the University and may vary accordingly; indicative fees are a guide only.
For domestic students, applications open on 1 August 2025 and close at 3pm AEDT on 31 October 2025. The selection process involves submitting an online application with required documents, receiving acknowledgement from UNSW Admissions, sharing two professional references via the Psychology Reference Portal, a shortlisting process by the Selection Committee after the application deadline, an interview (typically held in November) and submission of a video of a test administration, followed by notification of the outcome. Term 1 is the only available intake, and there are limited places available each year.
