About This Course

Examine theories and practical techniques across continence and pelvic health, musculoskeletal physiotherapy or sports physiotherapy. This course allows qualified physiotherapists to specialise in one of the following: Continence and Pelvic Health, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Sport Physiotherapy.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

A bachelor degree in physiotherapy or equivalent, plus at least two years of relevant clinical experience.
You must be a registered physiotherapist with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia, or be eligible for limited registration for postgraduate training in Australia.
You will need to provide evidence of your successful completion of an approved course in first aid (CPR).
You will also be required to provide supplementary information with your application.
English language requirement: IELTS Academic with an Overall band score of 7, and minimum scores of 7 in Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening.
This course requires you to undertake fieldwork placements to complete your qualification; you must meet communicable diseases requirements.
Entry to this course is competitive, with limited places available; offers will be made on a continuous basis until the course is full.

Career Opportunities

Continence and pelvic health physiotherapists work as primary care clinicians in private practice and/or public hospitals, with men, women and children. Career opportunities include working within a multidisciplinary team in specialities such as urology, gynaecology, oncology, general surgery, sexual health, pain medicine and gerontology. Health promotion, research opportunities, teaching and clinical tutoring jobs, flexible private practice, hospital or community-based jobs are also available following graduation. Graduates who are members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) can apply for APA Titled Membership on graduation.

What specialisations are available in the Master of Clinical Physiotherapy?

The Master of Clinical Physiotherapy allows qualified physiotherapists to specialise in one of the following three areas: Continence and Pelvic Health, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, or Sport Physiotherapy.

What are the intake dates for the Master of Clinical Physiotherapy?

This course is only available for Semester 1 intake for new students. There is an additional intake (Extended Delivery Period 2A) for returning students who want to do an additional specialisation; returning students can only select either Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy or Sport Physiotherapy.

What are the registration requirements to enrol in this course?

It is essential that all students who partake in this professional masters program are registered with the Physiotherapists Registration Board of Western Australia. Applicants who enrol but do not hold current registration are required to obtain temporary registration by providing the Physiotherapists Registration Board of WA with certified copies of physiotherapy qualifications and an original Letter of Good Standing (or a Statutory Declaration) dated within six months of making the application.

How much does the Master of Clinical Physiotherapy cost in 2026?

The 2026 domestic indicative first-year fee is $35,198, based on a full-time study load of 200 credit points. This is a domestic fee-paying (DFP) place, meaning it is not Commonwealth supported. Domestic fee-paying students may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance. Note that fees are indicative only and do not include administrative, incidental fees, or textbook costs.

Is it possible to exit the course early with a lower qualification?

Yes, it is possible to exit this course with a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Physiotherapy once you have completed certain units.
