The Master of Commerce (Actuarial Science) offers a 'practice' pathway, which focuses on advanced professional training, and a 'research' pathway, which prepares students for the PhD in Actuarial Studies.
Yes. The Centre for Actuarial Studies is a registered Centre of Actuarial Excellence (CAE), accredited by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), which is the highest level of recognition the SOA offers to universities. Additionally, students who perform to a high enough standard are able to start working towards Part II of the professional requirements of the Actuaries Institute.
The course is designed for business/commerce graduates who already have an actuarial major and wish to pursue their actuarial training further. Students without an actuarial major are advised to refer to the Master of Actuarial Science instead.
The Master of Commerce (Actuarial Science) takes 1.5 years to complete full time, or 3 years part time, and is delivered on campus at Parkville with an intake in March.
