The Master of Construction Practice is accredited by the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). The program also meets the educational requirements of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) for attainment of an Open Builders License.
No, the Master of Construction Practice is open to applicants from both construction and non-construction backgrounds. It provides an inclusive yet rigorous pathway into the profession through a strong foundation in construction principles and advanced applied practice.
The curriculum addresses a comprehensive range of topics including building structures and soil mechanics, construction technology, construction techniques, plant and equipment, contract administration, building measurement, finance and cost planning, project management, refurbishment and retrofitting, and risks. In Year 2, you will also cover contract administration, selection of materials, building services, and the full life cycle of planning, building, management, and refurbishment. Electives in dispute resolution, forensic engineering, and real estate property rights are also available.
The Master of Construction Practice takes 1 year and 4 months (4 semesters) to complete. Intake dates are available in May 2026, September 2026, January 2027, and May 2027, and the program is delivered on-campus at Bond University's Gold Coast Campus.
Students learn in a mix of environments including the classroom and practical experiences incorporating industry guest involvement, skills sessions, projects, and practical assessment pieces replicating workplace tasks. The program is delivered in collaboration by both academic and industry professionals with direct experience from the job site. Students also learn in the University's Sustainable Development Building Precinct, which is the first building in Australia to achieve a 6 Star Green Star – Education PILOT Certified Rating for design by the Green Building Council of Australia.
