You will learn to apply your existing music skills through four core methods: improvisational (creating improvised music), re-creative (creatively using repertoire/songs), compositional (creating songs/music) and receptive (creative listening) music therapy methods.
You will engage in on-site lectorials (a dynamic integration of lecture & tutorial) one day per week during semester time, with additional online synchronous and asynchronous learning activities on the other days. The course is delivered at the Penrith campus.
The course includes a hands-on 'Work Integrated Learning' program featuring the innovative SiMPrac (Simulated Music Therapy Practicum) and Music Therapy Placements, which are provided flexibly as weekly or block placement modes, all under the professional supervision of Registered Music Therapists (RMTs).
Domestic students may access discounted student fees through Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) with an indicative annual fee from $11,885 when undertaking this course in 2026. International students are charged AUD $35,372.
Applications for the 2026 intake close on 12th January 2026, with auditions/interviews taking place starting 9 February 2026. The next listed start date is 01 March 2027 (Autumn 2027 intake).
