About This Course

The Master of Cultural and Creative Industries (course code A6004) prepares graduates for diverse career pathways in and beyond the cultural sector. The course provides foundational skills, knowledge and capabilities for understanding the nature and value of the cultural sector, critically examining the trends and transformation of the global cultural and creative industries and the multi-faceted challenges facing creative practitioners, cultural managers, creative entrepreneurs and producers, and policymakers. Situated in Melbourne, the course offers industry internships and field trips (including a Shanghai City Lab unit) as an immersive lens on the local and global importance of the sector. Note: this course was previously marketed as the Master of Cultural Economy; it is the same CRICOS-registered program (CRICOS 079584G) under its current official title.

Minimum Entry Requirements (International students), 3 entry-point structure: Entry level 1 (96 points, 2 years full-time/4 years part-time) — an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least credit (60%) average. Entry level 2 (72 points, 1.5 years full-time/3 years part-time) — an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least credit (60%) average; OR an Australian bachelor degree plus an Australian graduate certificate in a cognate discipline with at least 50% average in both; OR minimum five years relevant work experience plus an Australian graduate certificate in a cognate discipline with at least credit (60%) average. Entry level 3 (48 points, 1 year full-time/2 years part-time) — an Australian bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline with at least credit (60%) average. Cognate disciplines include humanities or social sciences. English entry requirements (Level A): IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall (Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0) or PTE (Academic) 58 overall (Listening 50, Reading 50, Speaking 50, Writing 50) or TOEFL iBT 79 overall (0-120 scale: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18, Writing 21).
