Common Questions
UQ's vertical dual degrees enable students to gain a Bachelor and Master's degree in four years β instead of five. Students study the Bachelor of Computer Science in years 1 and 2, begin some Master's courses in year 3 (with the option to exit with a Bachelor of Computer Science at the end of year three), and complete the Master of Cyber Security in year 4, graduating with two degrees.
The program offers the following majors: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Programming Theory. It also offers fields of study including Cryptography and Cyber Defence. Note that the vertical dual degree is only possible with the Cyber Defence or Cryptography fields in the Master of Cyber Security component.
Domestic students benefit from a Commonwealth Supported Place throughout the program, meaning the cost of education is shared between the student and the Australian Government, with an indicative annual fee of approximately $7,785 (2026). International students pay approximately AUD $58,056 per year (2026). Fees are reviewed each year and may increase.
Yes, the Bachelor of Computer Science / Master of Cyber Security is accredited by the Australian Computer Society. Upon graduation, students may also be eligible for membership with the Australian Computer Society.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful β never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
