Requirements

Rule A: You have completed a Bachelor qualification or above (AQF Level 7, 8 or 9 or overseas equivalent) in any discipline.
Rule B: You have completed a UNE Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity and Computing (AQF Level 8).
English language requirements must also be met.
You must meet the Inherent Requirements in order to complete this course.
If admitted under Rule A, you can apply for up to 48 credit points of Advanced Standing.
If admitted under Rule B, you will be granted 48 credit points of Block Advanced Standing and no additional Advanced Standing is available.
All admissions are subject to UNE's Admission, Credit and Enrolment Policy.

Do I need an IT or computer science background to apply for this course?

No, you do not need an IT or computer science background. The Master of Cybersecurity and Computing is designed for those who have an undergraduate degree in any discipline but no IT or computer science background, making it perfect for developing the key knowledge and skills to enter a career in cybersecurity.

How long does it take to complete the Master of Cybersecurity and Computing?

You can complete the master's in as little as one year (with advanced standing under Rule B) or two years when studying full-time, or up to six years part-time. The course consists of 16 units (96 credit points) in total.

Can I exit the course early with a qualification if I don't complete the full master's?

Yes, you can exit early with the Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity and Computing if you choose not to complete the full master's course, provided you fulfil the requirements of the graduate certificate at that stage.

What are the available start dates and where can I study this course?

The course is offered in Trimester 1 (February 2026) and Trimester 2 (June 2026) online and at Armidale Campus. Trimester 3 (October 2026) is not offered. The Sydney Campus offers on-campus study in Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 only. Online study is available in Trimester 1 and Trimester 2.
