Cyber Security Risk and Incident Management
Prepares students for incident detection and response within an organisation and the application of incident management practices to address a variety of cyber security incidents. It also guides students in communicating incident related aspects during cyber security incidents.
Cyber Security Law and Ethics
Provides students with advanced practical skills of ethical hacking to penetrate secure systems with the aim to uncover vulnerabilities for defence purposes. Focuses on network-enabled services and technologies, evaluating organisational readiness, and defending against network-based threats.
Information and Network Security
Focuses on the effective deployment, utilisation and monitoring of both a wired and wireless network. Students will identify, analyse and design effective cyber security network designs and learn reporting and disseminating innovative and sustainable design solutions.
Applied Project
Offers the opportunity to apply knowledge in either a Technical or Governance context. Students can use a range of hardware and/or software tools to demonstrate comprehension in an organisational setting.
Cyber Security Policy and Governance
Examines cyber security governance and public policy. Students will explore cyber security jurisdiction, cybercrime, cyberterrorism, the invasion of privacy, law enforcement and legal breaches, and communication skills essential for good cyber security governance.
Penetration Testing and Defence
Provides students with an opportunity to explore national and international cyber security standards, regulations, law and ethical principles. Students will learn how to approach ethical dilemmas in cyber security and navigate various principles and codes of conduct that apply in the virtual world.
Cyber Security Project Management
Introduces students to the lifecycle of cyber security project management. Students will generate and evaluate complex strategies and opportunities to support the application of technology and investment proposals, and communicate information and plans to stakeholders.
Emerging Cyber Security Threats
Explores emerging cyber security trends and technologies available that present threats to organisations. Students will explore topical trends, algorithms and/or tools to gain insight into the potential challenges arising from technology use.
Professional Project
Students will complete a specific and applied project within an organisational context.
Psychology of Cybercriminals
Students are immersed in the mindset of hackers and cybercriminals. Hacker motivations and the techniques used are studied in-depth to enable a better understanding of digital weaknesses and emerging online threats, and to develop more effective defences.
Cyber Project 3
Applied Industry cyber security project covering: investigating cyber security information to develop and initiate a concept; developing and presenting a cyber security project plan; designing and executing the identified project; monitoring performance; and closing and critically reflecting on the projects.

For domestic students, the annual indicative fee for full-time study is $24,720 (or $12,360 for part-time). For international students, the annual indicative fee for full-time study is $30,000. Students will be immersed in a world-class Cyber Security Training Operation Centre which comprises attack and defence rooms, monitoring rooms for hacking/triaging web data and data centres incorporating IT infrastructure. There is also a LEGO City simulated space that allows students to attack and defend city infrastructure, simulating the impact of a real cyber attack using the latest equipment and technology under the guidance of industry-experienced educators.
Domestic students can study online with on-campus practical training (80% online, 20% on campus) at either Coomera (Gold Coast) or South Bank (Greater Brisbane), with options for full-time (2 years, 4 nights per week) or part-time (4 years, 2 nights per week). International students study on campus with some online (80% on campus, 20% online) at either South Bank or Coomera, full-time over 2 years. Classes are teacher-led and scheduled, with virtual classes via Zoom for online components.
