The Master of Data Science offers four data science specialisations to choose from: foundational, statistical, computational, and computational and statistical.

Yes, in the final year there is a capstone subject where students apply data science tools to a practical problem. Students can work individually or in a group and are required to present their technically correct results in a client-ready format.

The School of Mathematics and Statistics offers dedicated support including experienced academic advisors, research seminars featuring leading academics, a Data Science Peer-to-Peer Mentoring program, the Mathematics and Statistics Society, and the Statistics and Mathematics Postgraduate Society (StAMPS). Stop 1 also provides support across the full range of student services including course planning, academic skills advice, global exchange support, fees and scholarship information, visa information, wellbeing and accommodation, and student administration.

Yes, the course offers flexible entry. Students can enter with a computer science or statistics background, or complete core subject prerequisites if they are coming from a different background.

Yes, students can build job-ready skills by choosing a science or technology internship as an elective, and can also explore overseas study opportunities with a wide range of global partners through the global exchange and overseas study support program.
