Master of Data Science

In the Master of Data Science component, you can choose from four majors: computational data science, statistical data science, biomedical data science, and information systems analytics.

As part of the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program, you'll have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, engage with industry professionals, and complete professional work placements. QUT Business School currently has more than 1,200 active partners across all sectors. You can also undertake a paid research project for approximately 6–10 weeks under the Vacation Research Experience Scheme (VRES), provided you meet the eligibility requirements.

The ATAR/selection rank threshold is 78.00, which is the lowest adjusted score to which QUT made an offer in Semester 1, 2026. If you achieve a selection rank of 80.00 or higher (including any adjustments) and satisfy all other admission requirements, you are guaranteed an offer in the Semester 1 offer rounds.

This double degree takes 4 years to complete full-time, or up to 8 years part-time. The course is delivered at the Gardens Point campus and intakes are available in both February and July.

Academics teaching in this course are world leaders in research and have strong industry ties. They also work on ground-breaking research in the QUT Centre for Data Science and have a wide range of real-world experience in finance, government policy-making, and in industry. Guest lecturers also contribute their own experiences and challenges to student learning.
