Graduates of the Master of Dental Public Health who hold a dental qualification and are already registered as dentists in Australia may be eligible to apply for registration with the Dental Board of Australia as a specialist dentist in Public Health Dentistry, subject to meeting the Board's requirements. However, graduates without a prior dental qualification are not eligible for registration with AHPRA as a specialist in Public Health Dentistry.
You will need to submit a copy of your current AHPRA Dental Registration certificate (or overseas equivalent for international applicants), a criminal record check, a current detailed Resumé, contact details of two work-related referees, a statement of intent, proof of identity (valid passport or equivalent), official academic transcripts, proof of completion of your qualification, and proof of English proficiency where required.
The closing date for Semester 1 entry is 31 January of the commencing year, and the closing date for Semester 2 entry is 15 July of the commencing year. Note that separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.
The Master of Dental Public Health program is directed by Associate Professor Bradley Christian.
You will complete core units in dental health services, population oral health and preventative dentistry, in addition to capstone and research project units. You will also complete elective units as needed to make up the requirements of the course, with the overall program providing advanced skills in oral health surveillance, policy development, community-based disease prevention, health promotion, research, and the optimisation of oral health service delivery.
