Students can complete Year 1 on a part-time basis over 2 years, but Year 2 of the course is offered only full-time.

Prospective applicants need an undergraduate degree that meets Dietitians Australia's requirements. Specifically, 50% of the first year of undergraduate study must be composed of introductory bioscience (such as chemistry, biology, introductory physiology), and applicants must have completed two units of biochemistry, two units of human physiology, and four units of nutrition at second- and third-year level.

The 2026 domestic indicative first-year fees are $12,100 for a Commonwealth-supported place and $27,864 for a domestic fee-paying place. These fees are based on a first-year full-time study load of 200 credit points and are indicative only.

All applications are reviewed by a selection panel. Eligible applicants must submit a personal statement, academic transcripts, a resume, and (for external applicants) two academic referee reports. Shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake an interview as the final stage of the application assessment. Course entry is competitive, and applicants who pass the interview are ranked by course-weighted average.
