Common Questions
The Master of Education tailors to experienced educators honing specialties, while the Master of Teaching suits non-teachers aspiring to teach. The Master of Education allows experienced educators to deepen their expertise, focusing on advanced skills, research, and specialised knowledge, and is perfect for those aiming to advance in areas like administration, policy, or educational research. In contrast, the Master of Teaching is designed for those new to the profession, providing essential teaching skills, classroom management techniques, and hands-on experience.
For a Master of Education, you'll often require a Bachelor's degree or higher in a cognate discipline, or a Bachelor honours degree in a non-cognate discipline. If you don't meet these requirements, you can consider completing a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies and then progressing to the Master's degree.
The duration varies based on factors like attendance pattern (full-time or part-time), any prior qualifications and relevant work experience. Generally, it takes around 1.5 years if pursued full-time, and 3 years part-time.
Yes, the Master of Education program qualifies for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs), which are available to eligible Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens who meet specific residency requirements. The Australian Government subsidises a portion of your course fees, and you contribute the remaining amount as a student contribution. CSPs are granted based on academic merit and the subsidy remains throughout the course's duration. International students usually do not qualify for CSPs and are subject to full international tuition fees.
The Master of Education offers the following streams: Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology, Special and Inclusive Education, and Leadership in Aboriginal Education. These streams are also available as Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates, along with an additional Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
