The Master of Education intake is in February only, and students may enter at the beginning of any semester according to the academic calendar.
The Master of Education (Coursework) comprises 7–8 units of study. Each unit represents 3 credit points, with the exception of the optional Major Research Project unit which is worth 6 credit points. To fulfil the requirements of the MEd award, you will need to complete a minimum of 24 credit points, including 2 core units, 4–5 elective units, and 1 capstone research unit.
Sheridan does not offer a fully online study option for remote students. The course is delivered face-to-face through lectures, tutorials and seminars at the Perth CBD campus (Suite 18, 7 Aberdeen St Perth), with classes running from 4.30pm–7.30pm to allow practising teachers to attend.
No, the Master of Education will not enable graduates to register as a qualified teacher in a school or educational facility. However, the program does contribute to the further professional learning requirements for teachers to maintain their teacher registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
Yes, the Graduate Certificate of Education (GradCertEd) is a nested qualification within the Sheridan Master of Education. GradCertEd graduates who are subsequently accepted into the MEd program will receive full credit towards their MEd course.
