Master of Education (Research)

All applicants:

The minimum academic requirement for entry to a Master of Education (Research) at La Trobe University is a three-year Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline completed within the last ten years with at least a weighted average mark of 70 or above.

Entry into the thesis-only stream also requires evidence of prior relevant research training, for example the completion of a minor research thesis or project, Australian Honours thesis, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline completed within the last ten years as part of the qualifying degree with at least a weighted average mark of 70 or above.

Where an applicant does not meet the normal academic entry requirements, an application may be made for admission on equity or alternative entry grounds where the applicant can demonstrate, through discipline-appropriate forms of evidence:

• That they have attained the prior research and/or learning outcomes that normally pertain to the minimum academic entry requirements for the degree, and
• That they have the capacity to successfully undertake a higher degree by research.

The following conditions must be met in order to gain admission into a Master of Education(Research) degree:

• you must meet the entry requirements for the degree
• the school in which you seek enrolment must be able to provide appropriate facilities, resources and supervision for your chosen area of research.

6.5 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.

This degree will allow you to pursue advanced research within academic research, higher education, or secure employment opportunities within research centres, government or the corporate world. Successful completion of the Master of Education (Research) can also serve as a pathway into a PhD.
