Common Questions
The program comprises 48 credit points and is designed to be completed over two years full-time (or part-time equivalent). Students must complete 18 credit points by coursework (6 units) and the research component, which is equivalent to 30 credit points. Two of the six units are electives, selected from the Master by Coursework stream within the relevant engineering discipline. The second year is dedicated to the research component, where students complete two research units supporting the development and execution of their research project and produce a thesis at AQF Level 9. The research component represents approximately 60% of the total program workload.
Yes. EIT's Master of Engineering programs require students to undertake 240 hours of paid or unpaid professional work-integrated learning. This can incorporate paid or unpaid internships, site visits, contributing to industry projects, and networking activities. If you already have some work experience in the relevant engineering field, you may apply to have credit granted by completing the associated recognition of prior learning form.
Applicants may qualify through one of three pathways: Pathway A requires an Australian Bachelor Degree (or international equivalent) in a congruent field of engineering with a minimum overall grade of 75%; Pathway B requires an Australian Bachelor Degree Honours or above with a minimum overall grade of 65%; Pathway C requires an Australian Master Degree or above in a congruent engineering field. All applicants must also submit a 500-word statement detailing their research experience, supported by evidence such as capstone project reports or simulation/modelling studies, and must demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0 (with no individual band less than 6.0).
Yes. Students who elect to exit the program after successfully completing the first four units can opt to receive EIT's Graduate Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Practice.
This course may use the following software: Interactive Heat Transfer (IHT) software, Automation Studio, ABAQUS, ANSYS, GasTurb, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and MATLAB/Simulink. Please note that due to ongoing unit and course reviews, the software list may change.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
