The Master of Engineering (Biopharmaceutical) suits chemical engineering and biological science graduates, and engineers with relevant work experience, who want to work on the treatments, vaccines and medications that biopharmaceutical engineers make possible.
The degree covers essential biopharmaceutical engineering knowledge, with courses in advanced technologies in biopharmaceutical processing, batch and continuous biomanufacturing, upstream bioprocessing and bioformulation, and downstream bioprocessing.
Its elective-driven structure lets you tailor the degree to your specific chemical engineering interests and career goals, including drug discovery and development, through specialised electives in biopharmaceutical principles and techniques. You also gain a comprehensive awareness of the global biopharmaceutical market and develop high-level problem-solving and communication skills.
Depending on your combination of professional experience and prior qualifications, you may be eligible for credit for the first year and progress straight into second year.
The program totals 96 units — 36 units of core courses, 36 units of work integrated learning and 24 units of electives — over two years across the Adelaide City and Mawson Lakes campuses, with February and July intakes.
