Master of Engineering (by Research)

The Master of Engineering (Research) is assessed solely through the submission of a substantial major thesis of 50,000–60,000 words. Candidates carry out a program of research, investigation or development, and the thesis is the only form of assessment for the degree.

There are three progress reviews: a Preconfirmation review (due 3 months from enrolment) involving completion of thesis-related tasks and attendance at research training workshops; a Confirmation of candidature review (due 9–12 months from enrolment); and a Draft thesis review (due 33–36 months, with a follow-up 3 months prior to thesis submission).
