Common Questions
For eligible graduates of RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in a relevant electrical engineering specialisation, the Master of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) may be completed in as little as 12 months. Duration for other applicants may vary depending on prior qualifications and any credit granted for previous study.
RMIT offers multiple intakes throughout the year. Semester 1 begins in late February or early March, Semester 2 begins in mid-July, and Semester 3 (available for a select number of courses, primarily for international students) begins in September, October, or November depending on the course. Check the specific course page for confirmed intake availability.
International students should check the course entry requirements on the RMIT course page, prepare required documents (academic transcripts, graduation certificates, evidence of English language proficiency, and any additional course-specific documents), and submit their application via RMIT's Application Portal or through VTAC if they have studied an Australian Year 12. International students should apply and accept their offer at least 4–8 weeks before the course start date to allow for visa processing.
RMIT's engineering degrees are designed in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework, and most are accredited through Engineers Australia, which is recognised by the Washington Accord. RMIT is ranked among the top 10 universities in Australia for engineering and in the top 150 globally for Engineering & Technology according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
Yes. Once enrolled, you can apply for credit and recognition of prior learning (RPL) to count towards your RMIT program. RPL means you may receive credit for prior study or skills and knowledge gained during employment, professional development, short courses, on-the-job training, or life experience. This may reduce the duration of your qualification.
Yes, scholarships are available for both local and international students at RMIT and can help with study costs such as textbooks, fees, accommodation, and living expenses. Details of available scholarships can be found on the RMIT scholarships page.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
