Yes. All Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees at Flinders are accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of professional engineer. Professional engineering courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised internationally under the Washington Accord, and graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered professional engineering status.
You will undertake a 20-week industry placement as part of your degree, which is one of the longest work placements offered in Australia. It enables you to work alongside professional engineers tackling real-world problems. You will also gain hands-on exposure to cutting-edge equipment and facilities at Flinders University's new technology precinct at Tonsley, and undertake an integrated high-technology design consulting project.
In first year, you study core topics including electronics, professional skills, engineering design, engineering programming, engineering physics and materials, engineering mechanics, and mathematics. Second year focuses on civil engineering with mechanics and structures, fluid mechanics, infrastructure systems engineering, and geographical information systems. Third year includes engineering project management and a 20-week industry placement. The fourth honours year includes a major civil engineering honours thesis, advanced civil engineering design, and electives. The fifth masters year includes a research methods and honours research project, electives such as cybersecurity for connected systems, financial performance, supply chains and innovation, with final major streams in civil, environmental, structural and transport.
For domestic students, the 2026 annual indicative fee is $9,537 (CSP — Commonwealth Supported Place). For international students, the 2026 annual fee is $47,300.
