Common Questions
Students can choose to advance their technical and leadership expertise in one of six pathways: mechanical engineering; civil engineering; electrical and renewable energy engineering; robotics and automation engineering; environmental engineering; or smart manufacturing.
Students commencing in 2026 will be able to choose the Environmental Engineering and Smart Manufacturing pathways, which will be available on campus at Burwood. All other pathways will require students to travel to Waurn Ponds. Second year units for all pathways will be available at Burwood from 2027.
Through SEL703 Professional Practice, you'll gain industry experience by completing at least 30 to 60 days of practical work experience in an engineering workplace. Alternatively, students may choose SEP701 Continuing Professional Development to fulfil the professional learning requirement.
To be considered for admission, you will need to meet at least one of the following criteria: completion of a four-year undergraduate engineering degree in a related engineering discipline recognised as equivalent to an Australian undergraduate engineering degree; completion of a three-year undergraduate engineering degree in a related engineering discipline AND two years relevant work experience; or Professional Engineer Membership of Engineers Australia or an equivalent professional body that is signatory to the Washington Accord. English language proficiency requirements must also be met.
To complete the Master of Engineering Management (Professional), you must pass 8, 12 or 16 credit points. The number of credit points required may vary, depending on your entry point or how much credit you receive as recognition of prior learning (RPL) based on your professional experience and previous qualifications. A 16-credit point program includes 6 credit points of core units, 1 credit point of professional learning units, 4 credit points from a pathway, and 5 credit points of course electives.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
