The program takes 2 years full-time or 4 years part-time without advanced standing. With advanced standing, reduced duration is available: 1 to 1.5 years full-time or the part-time equivalent. Advanced standing may be granted based on prior qualifications such as a Graduate Certificate (0.5 year advanced standing) or Graduate Diploma (1 year advanced standing) in Fashion (Entrepreneurship), or prior bachelor or honours degrees in fashion, textiles or business.
In Year 1, students complete six core subjects and select two elective subjects from Fashion and Textiles program options or university-wide electives. In Year 2, students complete three further core subjects culminating in a capstone experience — developing and launching their own fashion venture or consulting with fashion brands — plus five further courses from the Fashion and Textiles program option list. The degree also offers two globally intensive offshore elective subjects: Global Fashion Supply Chain and Global Entrepreneurship.
Applicants must have an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in any discipline with a GPA of at least 2.5 out of 4.0, OR a four-year bachelor degree with honours with a GPA of at least 2.5, OR a minimum of five years' fashion industry experience. Applicants with a GPA below 2.50 may still apply and will be assessed on a merit basis using their experience, a one-page personal statement, and possibly an interview. There are no prerequisite subjects. All applicants must also meet RMIT's minimum English language requirements.
The program has two intakes: February and July each year. The program is located at RMIT's Brunswick Campus. All applicants should apply directly to RMIT. Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
