Common Questions
Yes. Depending on your professional experience and previous qualifications, you may commence the course with admission credit and complete it in 1 year full-time (8 credit points) or 1.5 years full-time (12 credit points), rather than the standard 2 years full-time (16 credit points). You may also be able to study available units in the optional third trimester to further fast-track your degree.
Students will gain access to Deakin Studios (Burwood), a virtual production, TV, and film studio, where they'll get hands-on experience in grading and editing rooms, using professional equipment and the very latest technologies. The Master of Film and Television requires students to be on-campus for discipline specific equipment, software and assessment activities.
The estimated tuition fee for a full-fee paying place is $24,600 for 1 year full-time. This is provided as a guide only and represents the typical first-year tuition fees. The cost will vary depending on the units you choose, your study load, the length of your course and any approved Recognition of Prior Learning. You may also be eligible for a Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) loan to help pay your tuition fees.
Yes. The course includes a Communication and Creative Arts Internship unit (ACC700). If you choose to undertake an internship, you'll have the opportunity to expand your network and gain real-world experience before you graduate.
Students in the 16 credit point Master of Film and Television are required to complete 2 credit points of course electives. These electives can be selected from the Master of Communication, Master of Arts (Writing and Literature), or Master of Creative Arts.
