Yes, the time and cost can be reduced based on your previous qualifications and professional experience. Depending on your entry point, you may complete the course in 1 year full-time (8 credit points), 1.5 years full-time (12 credit points), or the standard 2 years full-time (16 credit points). For example, if you hold a bachelor degree (honours) or higher in a related discipline, or a bachelor degree in a related discipline plus at least two years' relevant work experience, you may be eligible for 8 credit points of admission credit and complete the degree in 1 year full-time.
As a graduate, you have the option to complement your primary studies in finance with a specialisation in a wide range of business-related fields. Recommended specialisations include Business Analytics, Digital Transformation, Financial Planning, and Property and Real Estate. These specialisations are designed to deepen your knowledge in a particular business field and benefit your future career.
To meet the English language proficiency requirements, you will need to demonstrate at least one of the following: a bachelor degree from a recognised English-speaking country, an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (with no band score less than 6.0) or equivalent, or other evidence of English language proficiency.
The estimated tuition fee is $34,200 for 1 year full-time for a full-fee paying place. This is provided as a guide only and represents the typical first-year tuition fees. The cost will vary depending on the units you choose, your study load, the length of your course, and any approved Recognition of Prior Learning. HELP loans, including FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP, may be available depending on your course, type of fee place, and citizenship or residency status.
The Master of Finance has three intake periods: Trimester 1 starting in March, Trimester 2 starting in July, and Trimester 3 starting in November. All three trimesters are available at Burwood (Melbourne) and Online. Direct applications to Deakin for Trimester 2 2026 close 21 June 2026, and for Trimester 3 2026 close 18 October 2026.
