The Master of Financial Technology Extension degree allows students to gain a deeper and broader understanding in FinTech with opportunities to undertake additional electives and learn about web development, system analysis and project management, compared to the standard program.
Entry requires a recognised bachelor degree with an average mark of 50% or a UOW Graduate Certificate in Financial Technology. Other tertiary qualifications along with extensive professional work experience will also be considered.
The indicative course fee for a full-fee paying place in 2026 is $67,010 in total, with a session fee of $12,564. However, in 2026, domestic students may be eligible for either a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) or a UOW-subsidised fee reduction of up to 75% off the fees listed.
The course starts in Trimester 1 2026 (9 February 2026) and Trimester 3 2026 (24 August 2026). For Trimester 1 2026, the domestic application deadline is 31 December 2025 and the international deadline is 18 November 2025. For Trimester 3 2026, the domestic deadline is 30 June 2026 and the international deadline is 2 June 2026.
Throughout the degree you will learn through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to modern technological developments in the financial sector. You will undertake subjects in data programming, information visualisation and machine learning, explore case studies, engage with industry partners and apply your knowledge in a FinTech research project. Additional electives cover web development, system analysis and project management. The program also covers the impact of technology on banking, global payment systems, the insurance industry and trading in financial markets.
