The standard course duration is two years of full-time study. The course may also be completed in part-time mode, typically over four years. Part-time students must be prepared to attend some afternoon or morning classes during each teaching week.
For 2026, the indicative total tuition fee for government-supported (Commonwealth Supported Place) domestic students is $19,312.00, with a first-year fee of $9,537.00. For domestic students without a CSP, the indicative total tuition fee is $71,892.00, with a first-year fee of $35,155.00. Fees are shown in Australian Dollars (AUD) and are reviewed annually.
Yes. If you achieve a credit average in your first year of study, you can apply to transfer into the Master of Philosophy in Forensic Science. This course is part of an articulated program comprising the Master of Forensic Science (Extension) (C04392) and the Master of Philosophy in Science (C04267). Subjects that have been successfully completed in the Master of Forensic Science (Extension) will be granted full recognition of prior learning.
Yes. There is a 25% Academic Merit Scholarship available for postgraduate students who commence a Master's or Master (extension) postgraduate course program in the Faculty of Science. Additionally, Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are available on a competitive, merit-based basis. UTS graduates may also be eligible for a 10% discount on course fees through the Alumni Advantage Program.
Applicants must have completed an Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent, in chemical sciences, biochemistry and cell biology, human biology, forensic science, or medical science. Applicants who do not meet these criteria should consider applying for the Graduate Certificate in Forensic Science (C11287). English language requirements must also be met, including an IELTS Academic overall score of 6.5 with a writing score of 6.0.
