Common Questions
The course is delivered through a combination of in-person intensive workshops and self-paced online sessions to suit varied learning styles. It uses VU's Block Model®, where students undertake one, or at most two, units at a time before moving on to the next, rather than studying several units simultaneously.
Applicants need to have completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, or an Australian Graduate Diploma (or equivalent) in any discipline. Applicants without an undergraduate qualification may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate of Global Public Health based on approved work experience, and upon completion, graduates will be eligible for admission to the Master with credit granted for completed units.
To attain the award of Master of Global Public Health, students are required to complete 192 credit points consisting of 144 credit points of Core Studies, 24 credit points of Capstone Units (either a Professional Project or Minor Thesis), and 24 credit points of Elective Units, delivered across two years.
Yes. If you are interested in a career in public health research, you can choose to undertake a research minor thesis as a pathway into PhD study. Academics at Victoria University are involved in a wide range of public health research, and the minor thesis provides an opportunity to network with public health researchers to help start your career in public health research.
The course is available as a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) for eligible students, with indicative fees for a full-time student in 2026 being AU$9,537 per year. This fee is a guide only, based on a typical full-time study load, and does not include materials such as textbooks or the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). If you are not eligible for a Commonwealth supported place, you will pay the full cost of each unit, and you may be able to get a HELP loan to pay for your studies.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
