United Nations Security Council Simulation Master of Global Studies and Master of Translating students recently had the opportunity to role play a simulated UN Security Council meeting, allowing them to experience what it might be like to work in this setting and actively apply their skills collaboratively in real time. Transcript As part of the global security challenges course we decided to change up the way that we assessed the students and we thought we would come up with a scenario-based exercise that allowed them the opportunity to role play, to simulate what it might be like to participate in a UN Security Council meeting. You're learning in a multimodal way, I would say. You've got tutorials, you have in-person and online lectures, you've got workshops where you're in class, i.eracting with other people, you're using language in the interpreting lab. I am amazed at how much my Chinese has improved because I've been working with it day in, day out, hour after hour. So I've seen a huge improvement in my language skills and my ability to deal with complex translation tasks, in particular. A highlight here at RMIT has been making use of the interpreting laboratory because it is an industry-standard interpreting laboratory that has all of the equipment for simultaneous conference interpreting. So to be able to have an experience that is reflective of the real-world industry is really exciting. RMIT is preparing me to look, I would think in an unparalleled experience. The teachers and the training staff at RMIT have been absolutely fantastic in actually getting us ready for the real-life experience. I would say that what makes it a standout is the passion the staff bring to the program. We're really committed to our students because we treat them as our future colleagues. We've got great industry connections and the best thing is that all our teachers, the tutors and also continuing the staff, they are all very connected to their industry and all our programs are industry certified. Thinking through what's next. Well, we really want to keep our focus on the future-oriented learning for our graduates. They're going into a world where the issues we're addressing from global security challenges through to development and crisis management, very real they're moving fast. They're changing quickly. It's for us to make sure our program responds to and resonates with those needs. Back to Video <div

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
