Common Questions
Yes. Depending on your professional experience and previous qualifications, you may commence this course with admission credit and complete your course in 1.5 years full-time (or 2 years part-time), requiring 12 credit points instead of the full 16 credit points. You may also be able to study available units in the optional third trimester to fast-track your degree.
The course's work-integrated learning elective allows you to undertake 150 hours of valuable industry experience. This can be an agency-based work placement with one of Deakin's many industry partners, or agency-sponsored work based at the Deakin Freelancing Hub. Internships are also available to students with a WAM of 70 and above. Additionally, students will undertake work integrated assessment tasks in several core and elective units and all students complete a capstone minor or major project.
The Minor Project option consists of Minor Research Project A (HSH731, 1 credit point) and Minor Research Project B (HSH732, 1 credit point), plus 6 electives from the electives list. The Major Project option consists of Major Research Project A (HSH733, 2 credit points) and Major Research Project B (HSH734, 2 credit points), plus 4 electives from the electives list. Any student wishing to do both a Minor and a Major project may do so with the permission of the Course Director, and will therefore only be required to complete 2 elective units from the electives list.
To meet the English language proficiency requirements, you will need to demonstrate at least one of the following: a bachelor degree from a recognised English-speaking country, an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (with no band score less than 6.0) in each component of the test, or other evidence of English language proficiency.
The estimated tuition fee for a full-fee paying place is $30,600 for 1 year full-time. Direct applications to Deakin for Trimester 2 2026 close on 21 June 2026. The course is available at Burwood (Melbourne) and Online, with intakes in March (Trimester 1) and July (Trimester 2).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
