Master of Human Rights and Global Engagement

This is the only multidisciplinary course in human rights and global engagement in Australia. It is delivered by Curtin's Centre for Human Rights Education, which has strong partnerships and a commitment to inclusivity, social justice and ethical behaviour, with award-winning teaching from lecturers who have extensive activist and advocacy experience.

Yes. The course provides opportunities to gain practical experience in real-world scenarios, such as developing advocacy campaign strategies and engaging in simulation exercises modelled on UN human rights agency hearings. You'll also have the opportunity to complete an internship to gain real-world experience in human rights and global engagement.

The 2026 domestic fee-paying first-year indicative fee is $24,276, based on a full-time study load of 200 credit points. Fees may vary depending on the units you choose and do not include administrative, incidental fees, or textbook costs.

Yes. You may be able to receive credit for recognised learning (CRL) from past study or professional experience, which could reduce the time it takes to finish your course. Specific details about CRL for this course can be found in the Handbook.

The course will expose you to rich and varied perspectives on human rights in a global context, including insights into regional politics, culture and justice, intercultural competence, and sustainability. You'll strengthen your intercultural competence by exploring diverse cultural and religious perspectives, enhancing your understanding of how your own culture has influenced your views and beliefs, and deepening your understanding of other world views.
