About This Course

This program is suspended from Spring 2026, no new students will be admitted from this session. The Master of Information and Communications Technology - Advanced (MICT-Adv) program will enhance your knowledge and skills to enable you to meet the increasing demands of business in this competitive and fast-changing area. This program is designed to provide in-depth knowledge in a range of theories and state-of-the-art developments in information and communications technology. As well as studying a number of core and elective subjects, you will also complete a work experience component and a field of study adding practical real-world application. You will also develop your capabilities in problem-solving and research practice and learn how to apply those skills in a professional and ethical framework. Offered as a Masters Degree qualification of 200 credit points, it is normally completed in 2.5 years full-time and 5 years part-time. The Master of Information and Communications Technology (Advanced) is accredited at Professional Level by the Australian Computer Society. It is administered within Western Sydney University's Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences academic area. Subjects include Big Data, Postgraduate Capstone Project, Postgraduate Research Project, Systems Analysis and Database Management Systems and Research Preparation in Post Graduate Studies.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Tertiary Education: A undergraduate degree, or higher in any discipline. Applicants who have successfully completed an Australian Computer Society accredited (or equivalent) Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Computing or Information Systems OR an Honours degree OR a Master degree in any discipline may be eligible for up to 40 credit points of Credit for Prior Learning subject to approval by the relevant Directors of Academic Programs (DAP). Applicants who have successfully completed an Australian (or equivalent) Graduate Certificate in ICT may be eligible for up to 40 credit points of Credit for Prior Learning subject to approval by the relevant Directors of Academic Programs (DAP). Applicants who have successfully completed an Australian (or equivalent) Graduate Diploma in ICT may be eligible for up to 80 credit points of Credit for Prior Learning subject to approval by the relevant Directors of Academic Programs (DAP).
