About This Course

As technology increasingly becomes more important to business performance, there is a growing demand for IT graduates with technical and business expertise. The Master of Information Technology involves an in-depth study of the implementation and application of IT, including how to effectively manage the organisational, economic, regulatory and socio-technical issues that may arise. You will be introduced to fundamental concepts and core topics such as programming and data structures, data management systems, system analysis and project management, web development, strategic network design, and security, ethics, and professionalism. This degree is suitable for those with and without an IT background seeking to develop the fundamental skills required to work in the sector, or to undertake a management role in which an understanding of IT implementation is essential. On completion, graduates will be able to work in various roles: IT analyst, solution designer/engineer, IT consultant, ICT project manager.

A recognised bachelor's degree with an equivalent average mark of 60% in any area.
Applicants with other qualifications and substantial relevant professional experience may also be considered.
Admission to UOW is primarily based on your academic qualifications, with work or life experience generally not considered.
If you do not meet the academic requirements for this course, recognised pathway programs such as those offered by UOW College or the TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC) are available.
Domestic applicants with overseas qualifications: If you have completed or partially completed studies at an approved university or tertiary institution, you may be eligible for entry. Academic records must be provided, your course must be at least one-sixth complete, and non-English documents must include an official English translation.
All UOW courses are taught in English and require varying levels of proficiency. If English is not your first language, you must meet the University's English Language Requirements. Accepted international test results include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET for specific health-related courses. Alternatively, you can fulfill the requirement by completing an English course at UOW College.
