Common Questions
Yes, the NAPS' MIT course is designed for students with or without ICT backgrounds. For students without an ICT background, the course includes foundational units (MIT401 Database Management, MIT402 Programming Fundamentals, and MIT403 Computer Systems Foundation) in their study plan to accommodate their needs, whereas students with an ICT background have elective options instead.
The tuition fee for the NAPS Master of Information Technology is $13,000 for each trimester for international students. For domestic students, the total fees are AUD $14,000, with fees per semester of AUD $3,500, a material fee of AUD $960, and an initial payment (tuition fee + enrolment fee) of AUD $3,750. All students must pay their tuition fees in advance on a trimester by trimester basis at least two weeks before the start of the trimester.
Students can major in either Networking or Cyber Security. The Networking major includes units such as Server Administration, Firewall and VPN, Cloud Computing, Wireless Networking, and Advanced Networking, while the Cyber Security major includes units such as Cyber Security, Analytics for Cyber Security, Ethical Hacking, Computer Forensics, and Enterprise Cyber Security Management. Elective units can be chosen from Networking, Cyber Security, or Business units, subject to prerequisites.
The course is delivered by face-to-face lectures supplemented with online materials through Moodle (NAPS eLearning), accessible on and off campus. There are 4 hours of face-to-face teaching per week for all units, consisting of 2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of tutorials. Delivery also includes online activities such as discussion groups, seminars, and webinars. Classes comprise lectures, lab work, seminar-type discussions, and presentations. The lectures are two weeks ahead of the tutorials so students have time to understand the theory before applying it practically.
Students from English speaking countries including Australia must have completed a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Students who apply onshore or directly from their home countries must have studied at least 2 years in English, with an IELTS (Academic) test with a minimum score of Overall 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent in TOEFL or other accredited English language test program provided by an accredited supplier. Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
