About This Course

The Master of Information Technology (Cyber Security) builds fundamental IT and cybersecurity knowledge and the technical proficiency to implement cybersecurity defences against evolving threats and attacks.
The degree starts with foundational IT practices, then develops knowledge in governance, risk management and compliance, business practices, network security and Australian cyber law. From there you tackle advanced topics in security architecture engineering and cloud security.
Practical skills are built through real-world projects and work in specialist computer labs, and you develop advanced knowledge of global cybersecurity practice.
The first four courses are common across all Master of Information Technology degrees, so you can change specialisation.
Adelaide University frames the degree against Australia's goal of leading the world in cybersecurity by 2030 and the growing global demand for cybersecurity experts.
The program totals 96 units — 78 units of core courses and 18 units of work integrated learning — over two years across the Adelaide City and Mawson Lakes campuses, with February and July intakes.
