Common Questions
No, the Master of Information Technology Management is ideal for students without a computing or IT background, as well as those who would like to support their industry experience with a recognised academic qualification. The minimum entry requirement for the 16-credit point version is simply the completion of a bachelor degree or higher in any discipline.
The course is 2 years full-time or part-time equivalent. However, depending on your professional experience and previous qualifications, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) credit, which could reduce your course duration. Students may also fast-track by studying available units in the optional third trimester.
The estimated tuition fee is $34,400 for one year full-time as a full-fee paying place. This is provided as a guide only and represents the typical first-year tuition fees. The actual cost will vary depending on the units you choose, your study load, the length of your course and any approved Recognition of Prior Learning. HELP loans (FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP) may be available depending on your course, type of fee place, and citizenship or residency status.
The course is available at Waurn Ponds (Geelong) and Online. There are three intakes per year: Trimester 1 starting in March, Trimester 2 starting in July, and Trimester 3 starting in November. Note that due to Australian Government regulations, student visas to enter Australia cannot be issued to students who enrol in Deakin online.
You must pass 8, 12, or 16 credit points depending on your entry point or how much RPL credit you receive. A full 16-credit point course includes four parts: Part A (4 credit points of Foundation IT studies), Part B (3 credit points of Fundamental IT Management studies plus 1 elective), Part C (4 credit points of Mastery IT Management studies), and Part D (3 credit points of IT Management capstone studies plus 1 elective). As a full-time student you will study four credit points per trimester and usually undertake two trimesters per year.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
