Yes, with the Master of Information Technology (Professional) you have the chance to undertake an industry placement or internship as part of your degree. Students who choose this pathway must first successfully complete the 0-credit-point unit STP710 Career Tools for Employability before enrolling in SIT776 IT Industry Experience.
The estimated tuition fee for a full-fee paying place is $34,400 for one year full-time study. This is provided as a guide only and represents the typical first-year tuition fees; the actual cost will vary depending on the units chosen, study load, length of the course, and any approved Recognition of Prior Learning. Students may also be eligible for a HELP loan, including FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP, depending on their course type, fee place, and citizenship or residency status.
The course is offered across three intakes: Trimester 1 starting in March, Trimester 2 starting in July, and Trimester 3 starting in November. All three intakes are available at Burwood (Melbourne) and Online. Direct applications to Deakin for Trimester 2 2026 close 21 June 2026, and for Trimester 3 2026 close 18 October 2026.
To complete the course, you must pass 8, 12, or 16 credit points depending on your entry point or how much credit you receive as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). A full 16-credit-point course includes: Part A (4 credit points of core Fundamental IT units), Part B (3 credit points of core Mastery IT units plus 1 credit point of elective units), Part C (4 credit points of specialisation units), and Part D (2 credit points of professional studies units plus 2 credit points of elective units). Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
