No, the Master of Information Technology (Professional Computing) is only available for international students — those not holding Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency.
Students can choose from four specialisations: Data Analytics (focused on storing, managing, organising and analysing data from a variety of computer systems), Information Systems (focused on analysing, protecting, designing and specifying information systems), Mobile and Cloud Computing (focused on the design, coding, testing and operation of distributed, cloud-based and mobile systems), and Software Development (targeting software developers who develop and test computer programs and manage software quality).
Applicants must provide satisfactory completion of one of the following: an IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0, or Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with an overall score of 70% and all skills at 65% or above, or equivalent measures as outlined on Swinburne's English language requirements page.
Yes. Credit transfer is granted in recognition of previous study and/or experience and allows students to gain advanced standing towards their course. Additionally, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit towards their course in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis for both.
The course has multiple intake periods including Study Block 4, Semester 2, and Semester 1, and is offered at the Hawthorn campus on a full-time or part-time basis over 2 years full-time or equivalent part-time.
