Yes, the Master of Intellectual Property Law is designed for both lawyers and non-lawyers, allowing individuals from a wide range of professional and educational backgrounds to expand their expertise in intellectual property law.
Subjects are designed with busy working professionals in mind and are delivered flexibly, usually through five-day intensives. They can be taught online, on-campus, or as a hybrid of both.
Upon graduation, existing lawyers may seek accreditation as a patent and/or trade marks attorney in Australia and New Zealand, dependent on subject selection.
The 2026 indicative first year fee is AUD $49,984. Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are not available for this course.
The program features both Melbourne Law School academics and visiting specialists, with more than 140 visiting experts teaching in the program each year, of which more than 30 are from overseas. Teaching staff are practicing IP industry specialists who explore the latest industry developments.
