Course Content
International Hotel Food and Beverage Management
Develops the knowledge and skills required for the management of food and beverage operations within competitive and changing international hotel operating environments, including financial aspects such as costs and revenues.
International Hotel Accommodation Management
Develops knowledge, skills and understanding of managing accommodation and related hotel areas including front office, housekeeping/hotel facilities, security and engineering within competitive and changing international hotel operating environments.
Hospitality Management Accounting
Develops an understanding of key financial and operational performance indicators, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control, central to ensuring the current and future profitability of international hospitality business.
International Hotel Services Marketing
Investigates and critically evaluates the theory underpinning International Services Marketing, including global, social, cultural, commercial, ethical and technological influences on consumer behaviour and international hotel guests.
Workforce Design and Strategy
Examines and connects fundamental HRM tools such as planning, development, implementation and evaluation to critical HR activities, linking HRM business strategies and hotel operations to workforce design requirements.
Strategic Management

Critically reflects upon the key principles and importance of design, art and theatre in contemporary hospitality management and in a broader cultural context, including the role of artistic applications in creating the guest experience.
Information Systems Management
Develops understanding of the increasing role and application of information communication systems in the hospitality industry, including critical reflection on strategies, concepts and ideas currently changing hospitality practices.
International Hotel Brand Management
Covers the relevance and importance of brand management in the hospitality industry, including positioning, differentiation, brand equity, luxury brands, integrated marketing communication programs and global branding strategies. Prerequisite: MIHM104.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Develops an understanding of the entrepreneurial mind-set and the important role of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship within a hospitality industry context, providing tools to be innovative and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities.
Business Intelligence for Decision Making
Enables understanding and application of hospitality business analytics modelling through statistical techniques, covering data exploration, visualization, information technology and various analytical methods used in decision making. Prerequisite: MIHM103.

Common Questions
The Master of International Hotel Management is a two year (four semester) full-time course. It comprises ten core subjects and three electives delivered over eighteen months, plus a final Professional Practice and Research semester of six months in industry as a capstone subject to complete the course.
The full Master of International Hotel Management consists of fourteen subjects (no fee is applied to the Professional Practice and Research Project subject). For domestic students, the cost is A$3,000 per subject with a total indicative course cost of A$39,000. For international students, the cost is A$3,200 per subject with a total indicative course cost of A$41,600. New international students are also required to pay a once-off New Student Fee of A$250. Graduates from other universities or hospitality/business related institutions may be eligible for recognition of prior learning which will reduce the overall cost.
Semester 4 of the Masters provides students with the opportunity to undertake a six month Professional Practice and Research in industry. Students are expected to have a minimum of 200 hours industry experience prior to undertaking this placement, and must complete a minimum of 600 industry hours as part of the research project, in addition to the 200 minimum experience required. Most positions within Australia are paid as regular employees. Students can engage ICHM's Industry and Career Development (ICD) Managers to assist with sourcing an industry position.
Yes. Students are encouraged to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for study taken at another institution as well as time spent working in the hospitality industry. Approved recognition or credit may reduce a student's overall cost, study workload, or duration. This is most commonly applied to students transferring from other universities, colleges or hotel schools; people with business-related diplomas or degrees wanting to enter the hotel industry; and industry personnel with experience and some training seeking qualifications with international recognition.
International students may be required to prove English proficiency to enter the Master of International Hotel Management. Accepted tests and minimum scores are: IELTS Academic overall score of 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in any band); TOEFL IBT score of 79 (writing and speaking not below 20); PTE score of 58 (no score below 50); or Cambridge English (CAE) score of 176 (no score below 169).
