Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies (Double Masters with Jean Moulin Lyon III)

International (Jean Moulin Lyon III specialisation):

• An Australian bachelor degree with a major in French (or equivalent) with at least credit (60%) average, and language competence equivalent to at least three years university study.
• OR an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) plus an Australian graduate certificate (or equivalent) equivalent to a major in French, with at least credit (60%) average in both qualifications.
• English entry requirements (Level A): IELTS (Academic) overall 6.5 (Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0), or PTE Academic overall 58, or TOEFL iBT 79 (0-120 scale) / 4 (1-6 scale), or other approved equivalent English tests.
• A quota applies to this course. You must inquire directly to the MITS Course Coordinator in the Faculty of Arts and, if eligible, will be invited to apply.

Domestic:

• Same academic and language requirements as above apply for the Jean Moulin Lyon III specialisation.
• A quota applies; direct inquiry to the MITS Course Coordinator is required before applying.

• The Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies holds the highest level of industry accreditation available in Australia: NAATI endorsement, CIUTI membership, and meets the AIIC Training Criteria.
• On completion, graduates are eligible to apply to sit NAATI certification tests (the standards-setting body for translation and interpreting in Australia) — for the Jean Moulin Lyon III specialisation, this includes Certified Translator level.
• Opens pathways to careers as professional translators and interpreters, and roles in international organisations, legal and business translation, and global conservation/NGO work (as demonstrated by graduate case studies in Antarctic and environmental conservation internships).
