The degree consists of areas of law and policy specialisation and the first specialisation available for study is International Law and Policy issues related to the world's oceans (Maritime), also referred to as 'Law of the Sea'.

The indicative session fee for 2026 is $12,890 and the total indicative course fee is $25,781 for a full-fee paying place at Innovation Campus. In 2026, domestic students may be eligible for either a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) or a UOW-subsidised fee reduction of up to 75% off the fees listed.
Applicants with a recognised Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent legal qualification with an equivalent average mark of 50% may be admitted based on appropriate professional experience, such as a number of years of employment in a legal or maritime-related field, including naval officers, public servants, or enforcement personnel. Supporting evidence should include a statement of service or an employment reference, and consideration will be given to the length and field of professional experience.
